XAUUSD EDUCATION · RISK FIRST

Plan the loss.
Then earn the right to trade.

XAUUSD risk management begins with an invalidation point and an acceptable loss—not with choosing a large position because the setup feels convincing.

Risk begins with the account.

If an account is worth $1,000 and risk is set at 1%, the planned maximum loss is $10 when Stop Loss is reached, excluding slippage and other costs.

RISK PER TRADE

1% · $10

Maximum planned loss for one idea.

Risk percentage is not an emotion. Do not double the position after a losing trade merely to recover quickly.

Structure determines Stop Loss.

  • Entry: the area or trigger that activates the trade idea.
  • Stop Loss: the level proving the idea invalid—not simply the nearest convenient number.
  • Take Profit: a target based on structure, liquidity and available price room.
  • Risk-to-reward: the comparison between planned loss and potential reward.
CC PRINCIPLEBalance determines the risk amount. Structure determines SL. SL distance helps determine position size.

Why use TP1, TP2 and TP3?

Multiple targets allow a trader to plan milestones before entry. TP1 is the first objective, TP2 is a continuation target and TP3 is an extended target. Partial-close and Stop Loss management rules should be decided in advance.

TargetRole in the plan
TP1First milestone; may be used to reduce exposure according to the trader's plan.
TP2Intermediate target when structure and momentum continue to support the move.
TP3Extended objective that normally requires greater market room and momentum.

TEMPO LIVE history records the lifecycle so a target that was reached does not disappear simply because price later retraced.

Pips and points can differ.

For XAUUSD, decimal places and the meaning of pip or point can vary by broker and symbol specification. Check Digits, Point and contract size on your own MT5 platform before copying a calculation from elsewhere.

Candle Cartel displays values from its master symbol. Price, spread and distance may differ slightly on a member's broker account.

Before pressing BUY or SELL.

  1. Context: Do M15 and M5 support the direction?
  2. Territory: Is Entry near an area with market logic?
  3. Invalidation: Why is the setup wrong if SL is touched?
  4. Risk: What is the maximum loss in account currency?
  5. Target room: Is structure blocking the target?
  6. News and spread: Is there a volatility or execution risk?

If one major answer remains unclear, WAIT is better than forcing the geometry to look attractive.
